The aesthetic of interior design comes from current trends, past experiences and available materials. In the 1950s interiors of homes was about kitschy bowls and figurines and wallpaper on the ceiling. But, in the 1950s it was also about class, modernism, and new ways of using color. Most "modern furniture" sold today is fashioned after 1950's interior design, believe it or not.
The introduction of modern design schemes in the 1950s included dynamic colors in paint, flooring and fabrics. Designers in the 1950s utilized the emerging technologies of the day by dressing homes and commercial enterprises in bold, space-age colors. Traditional design styles were still prevalent, however, and included color schemes distinctly different from the modern sensibility. Thanks for visiting and please come back often!
