Canada Day, is the national day of Canada, a holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the Constitution Act of 1867. This act of law united three British colonies into a single country, called Canada, within the British Empire. The holiday was originally called Dominion Day,  but the name was officially changed in 1982 when Canada gained full independence from the United Kingdom.
