Photo Series: Super Moon

c>log
These are some photographs taken on March 19th, 2011,  during a full Moon of rare size and beauty. It's a super "perigee moon" – the biggest in almost 20 years. "The last full Moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993," says Geoff  Chester of the US Naval Observatory in Washington DC.

In reality, the moon was surely brighter than normal and maybe a little bit larger. Viewing was poor at moonrise due to cloud cover. These pictures, while of a special astronomical event, look just like pictures of other full moons. Personal observation was the fun in this venture. Thanks for visiting and please come back often!
