New Release From Echo & The Bunnymen

One of our favorite bands around here is Echo & The Bunnymen. And with The Fountain, they have released their 11th studio album and their 5th since the group reformed in 1997. A true highlight in this offering is the appearance of Coldplay's front man, Chris Martin, who is returning a favor from when The Bunnymen's front man, Ian McCulloch was enlisted for production help on Coldplay's classic album A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

Ian McCulloch was quoted in a publication as saying that he thought this album sounds like a debut album for the band. Both dark and beautiful, The Fountain will not disappoint new listeners or fans who have followed Echo & The Bunnymen for the course of their stellar career. Two tracks of special note are The Fountain and Forgotten Fields. Tracks 1 through 4 are especially good but the effort as a whole solidifies Echo & The Bunnymen's reputation as a truly enduring band that has been making music for almost thirty years. The only criticism from this Bunnymen fan is that Will Sergeant's distinctive guitar sound that made Echo & The Bunnymen sound as they do seems to have changed on this release. This album is worth a listen, whether to add to your Bunnymen collection or to start a collection of music from this classic band.
