The D.A. Haircut

c>log
The D.A. haircut is the greasy cousin to the pompadour. "D.A." does not stand for district attorney but rather ducks ass because of the unusual way the hair is styled on the back of head – the hair is combed forward (back to front) from a combed central part running from the crown to the nape. The result is a feathered convergence of greased up hair that sort of resembles the rear end of a duck. A more polite name for this hair style is a duck tail. It is the extreme pompadour.

It takes a lot of grease to pull this one off. And lots of combing to get that greasy mess just right. A wide-tooth steel comb works best when combing up this creation. Anything greasy will do – the old standard, Brylcreem, that smelly old Vitalis, or just plain Vaseline. Remember, this is the hair style that gave birth to the word greasers. It's gotta shine and it's gotta stay in place!
