Ringo Starr, the world's greatest drummer, held a surprise "Peace & Love" party on July 7th to celebrate his 68th birthday. The party was held in Chicago outside the Hard Rock Hotel but it was hardly publicized in advance. Word soon spread around Chicago and quickly a crowd assembled to sing "Happy Birthday" to Ringo after which they were treated to a short autograph and picture session by the former Beatle.
Said Ringo, "It's a fantasy, and it's a dream I have that one minute, one day, one month, one year, everyone will go peace and love." The party was planned after Ringo stated in a recent television interview that he would love it if everyone in the world stopped what they were doing at noon on July 7th to flash a peace sign.
