Good news! The ashtrays are clean, the highball glasses are full and the stylish suits are pressed and ready – AMC has officially announced the premiere of Season 2 of Mad Men on July 27th at 10 pm (EST). An AMC Mad Men marathon will run all 13 episodes of Season 1 starting July 20th at 12pm (EST) as a prelude to the premiere of Season 2.
Mad Men has been one of the most nominated and most awarded television series in recent years. The Television Critics Association has nominated the series for Program of the Year, Outstanding New Program, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Jon Hamm's performance as Don Draper has been nominated for Individual Achievement in Drama.
The storyline for Season 2 has been highly protected by cast and crew alike but we do know that Season 2 will not start where Season 1 left off on Thanksgiving 1960. The show's creator, Matthew Weiner, says "It's enough of a period of time that people will wonder what happened in between." And, some more good news – Mad Men will be broadcast in both high definition and standard definition and John Slattery will return to the show as Roger Sterling, one of the principals of Sterling Cooper.
