The Perfect Pompadour
c>log
The pompadour is a hair style – a very cool hair style. It is the slick hair style that gave rock 'n' roll its identity, its rebel attitude and its sexy swagger. The pompadour takes its name from Madame de Pompadour (Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, Duchesse de Pompadour), a notorious mistress of King Louis XV of France. The pompadour became a fashion trend during the 1950s among rockabilly musicians and the popular young actors of the time.

Now, if that's way too retro for your style, try the Psychobilly Wedge. It is a "slight" modification of the classic pompadour created by the Psychobilly subculture. Sometimes called a "Vamp Ramp" the Psychobilly Wedge takes the best of the pompadour and mixes it with punk-inspired shaved sides but no spikes on top. The top is slicked back and made to stand up like a proud pompadour should.
