Selector: New R.E.M. Album
c>log
Fourteen albums. Has it been that many and has it been that long? Well, yes, and the little band from Athens has given us another album entitled "Accelerate". Mike Mills is back with group and his voice can be heard on almost every track. The drumming is the most solid it has been since Bill Berry left and Michael Stipe shows his seasoning as a fine writer and lead singer. This is probably the band's best effort since "Life's Rich Pageant", "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" or "Automatic For The People." After all these albums and all these years, R.E.M. seems to be having fun again and having fun doing what they do best–making rock 'n' roll. The only dissappointment is the length of the album–a paltry 35 minutes. After more than a decade you would think we would get a bigger serving of R.E.M.
