Every Gnarls Barkley venture must have a theme, right? Gnarls Barkley's new album entitled, "The Odd Couple", is not about the quirky pairing of Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo but about the oddness of pairing futuristic grooves with retro grooves in what has turned out to be an excellent sophomore release.
There is a strong 60's pop quality to the album but it has the distinctive modern touches that only Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo can achieve using such a eclectic approach to music. "The Odd Couple" will probably never match the buzz and success of their 2006 debut album "St. Elsewhere" but Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo have reached a high level of artistry and craftsmanship on their second release. And, we can't wait to see what they will wear or come up with next.
