RIAA To Abandon Lawsuits And Change Tactics

c>log
After finally learning that you can't sue everyone, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is planning to end its bully tactic of suing individuals who are caught sharing music on the internet. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the RIAA has sued 35,000 people in the last 5 years but the tactic has actually done very little to stop the illegal downloading of music on the web. So, the RIAA is turning its attention to the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who provide the internet access to people who are caught in illegal musical dealings on the web.
What will happen, all you illegal music downloaders, is that you will receive an email from your ISP asking you to stop enjoying yourself online. You might possibly be threatened with a degradation of your connection speed too. If you continue to download music illegally on the internet you could possibly lose your internet access altogether. This could be expanded with little trouble into a downloader blacklist among ISPs. At this time, the ISPs who have signed an agreement with the RIAA have not been named.
